Last Updated 7/31/2025

A Community Call to Preserve Local Stories for Generations to Come

Iredell County residents, storytellers, historians, and families are invited to contribute to The Heritage of Iredell County, Volume III, the newest volume in a beloved series documenting local history. Submissions are now open and can be made online at:

https://iredell-lib-nc.libwizard.com/f/heritagebooksubmission

This edition is part of Iredell County’s America 250 Celebration and offers a special opportunity to preserve your family stories, local traditions, business histories, and organizational milestones for future generations.

Continuing a Tradition of Storytelling

The first two volumes of The Heritage of Iredell County were published in 1980 and 2000. Volume III will follow in their footsteps, showcasing the depth and diversity of life across the county. Only 500 copies of this edition will be printed, and pre-orders are strongly encouraged.

The project is coordinated by the Iredell County America 250 committee, facilitated by the Iredell County Public Library, and supported by the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources through a $10,000 American 250 grant. The committee includes representatives from local organizations, schools, and both municipal and county governments.
